Tires. Brakes. Maintenance (7)

If your heat or air conditioner in your car, truck or SUV isn’t working, you’re miserable. Our ASE-Certified technicians can get your car blowing the temp that keeps you happy. From an AC recharge to a full diagnoses to find out why your ventilation and cabin air systems aren’t working right, our Air Conditioning and Heat services are guaranteed to cool you down or warm you up.

We start with an inspection of your heating and cooling system to find out why your system isn’t keeping you comfortable. It may be a simple re-charge of your system or it may be something more complicated.  From there, we’ll provide you with a solution that will fix the problem and get you on your way in comfort.

Keeping your cool when you are driving isn’t always easy. When your A/C isn’t working, it is almost impossible. Let the A/C experts at Fox River Tire & Auto Repair help cool your car again. Here’s some information about Freon and our A/C services.

Stop in or make an appointment if your A/C isn’t keeping you comfortable.

Auto Air Conditioner - What is Freon?

Freon is a refrigerant that is responsible for keeping your car cool. It is a halocarbon that changes from a liquid and a gas to help keep the inside of your car cool. When there is a Freon leak, your car won’t cool and the freon escapes into the environment. This is why we don’t use R32 Freon anymore.

See below for more for more information about R32 and R134A Freon.

Air Conditioner - A/C Performance Check

If your A/C isn’t keeping you cool anymore, stop in and our ASE certified technicians can run an A/C Performance Check which includes which checks the major components of your car’s A/C system including:

  • Visually inspects all A/C components
  • Run a performance test
  • Perform a system state of charge test
  • Perform a system control test
  • Perform a leak test using an approved electronic leak detector
Auto Air Conditioner - AC Recharge

If after an A/C Performance check your car is in need of a recharge service in order to get your car back to blowing cold air, we will remove your old Freon and recharge your system with new Freon. We will then inspect and ensure that everything is working properly and your new Freon won’t leak out.

If your car is older than 1994, we will retrofit your car to allow it to use R134-A Freon.

A note about FREON:

Freon has been around since the beginning of air conditioning in cars. Originally, Freon R12 was used. But it was learned that R12 Freon was contributing to the depletion of the ozone layer. So, in 1994, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) outlawed ozone depleting substances. Since then, R134A Freon has been used.

If your car is older than 1994, your car likely still uses R12 Freon. But no worries. If your car, truck or SUV needs AC service, we can retrofit your car with R134A Freon.

Call or come into Fox River Tire & Auto Repair and we can get your car cool again and, if your car is older than 1994, we can keep the environment clean at the same time.
